David's Sling Craft
📖 Bible Connection
Story: David and Goliath (1 Samuel 17)
Lesson: With God's help, we can be brave and face big challenges! David was just a young shepherd, but he trusted God and defeated the giant Goliath.
Key Verse: "The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine." - 1 Samuel 17:37
🛠️ Materials You'll Need
- 1 piece of felt or thick fabric (about 4" x 4")
- 2 pieces of string or yarn (each about 12 inches long)
- Scissors
- Hole punch or sharp pencil
- Small pom-poms or crumpled paper balls (for "stones")
- Markers to decorate (optional)
📝 Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Cut the Pouch
Cut your felt or fabric into a rectangle about 4 inches by 4 inches. This will be the pouch that holds the stone.
Step 2: Make Holes
Use a hole punch or ask an adult to help you make two holes on opposite sides of the fabric, about 1 inch from the edge.
Step 3: Attach the Strings
Thread one piece of string through each hole and tie a knot so the strings are securely attached to the pouch.
Step 4: Decorate
Use markers to decorate your sling if you'd like! You can write "Be Brave" or draw stars on it.
Step 5: Practice (Safely!)
Place a soft pom-pom or paper ball in the pouch. Hold both strings and gently swing it. Important: Only use soft items and never aim at people or animals!
Step 6: Remember the Story
As you play with your sling, remember how David trusted God to help him be brave!
